Do Human Pheromone Product Work?

Although having a sexually attractive body, a handsome face and the skills of an alpha male can make you a chick magnet, men without these sexually appealing attributes can attract women by the dozens too. This is because what really drives women sexually crazy are naturally occurring body substance called pheromones. Pheromones produced by women work the same way to pump up men's sexual libido.

The word "pheromone" is the combinition of two Greek words which are pheran ( transfer) and horman (excite). According to Dr. Winnifred Cutler, pheromones are defined as “substances excreted by animals that affect the reproductive behavior of another same species animal acting at a distance.”

Since French naturalist Jean Henri Fabre discovered male moths flying from miles away attracted by a female moth caged in his lab in 1870, scientists have known about and documented the effects of pheromones on mating in the insect and animal kingdom. For instance, do you know that male cockroaches actually go wild when exposed to a glass rod covered with female cockroach pheromones and even attempt to mate with he rod?

However it wasn’t until 1986 that Dr. Cutler, director of Pennsylvania’s Athena Intstitute at that time, proved the existence of human pheromones and began to document its research. Both men and women produce varying amounts of pheromones called androstenone and androstenol whereas only women secrete the pheromone called copulins.

Human pheromones are produced by the apocrine glands in the armpits and around the genitals which sends sexual signals that are picked up by the vemeronasal organ or the VNO inside our noses. The VNO passes these messages on to the limbic portion of the brain which controls basic human emotions, like happiness, anger, fear, love, hate and sexual arousal. While we are not consciously aware of another person’s pheromones, they do have a major impact on us. Pheromone ignites sex drive, increases fertility and even help to regulate women’s menstrual cycles. Amazing isn't it?

Scientific Evidence That Human Pheromone Works And Can Be Detected

In scientific studies conducted by Dr Cutler, other scientists and researchers have shown some intriguing results. In a double blind experiment with young women, some 36 percent of the subjects exposed to pheromones had sex weekly during the first three weeks of the study. Of those receiving a placebo, only some 11 percent had weekly sex. By the end of the experiment of 14 weeks, 73 percent of the pheromone users were having sex every week, while those on the placebo stayed at 11 percent. It is very obvious from these results that pheromones do pump up sex drive and are detectable by humans.

In another control group study, 38 men were given either a pheromone solution to add to their regular cologne or a placebo. None of the men knew which they had been given. After 8 weeks of using the cologne, 47% of the pheromone users reported that they had more sexual intercourse but only 9.5% of those on the placebo reported the same.

In another experiment, a chair was sprayed with androstenone where the other chairs in the area were left untouched. It was objectively observed that women most often sat in the chair that is treated with the "male" pheromone androstenone. Another test involved three telephone booths. One of the three phones was sprayed with androstenone and more women used the treated phone than the other two. Not surprising anymore?

When the Bennett Research conducted a survey of 306 men in Australia using pheromones, an overwhelming 90% of them claimed that the product had increased their attractiveness to women. The results are :-

• Making conversation – 61%

• Starting up a conversation – 52%

• Expressing an interest in the man – 43%

• Being responsive to the man – 40%

• Paying unsolicited compliments to him – 36%

• Overt flirting – 34%

What is even more interesting is that there was a big increase in physical response by women such as :-

• Brushing against the pheromone male wearers -31%

• Touching the men - 30%,

• Becoming sexually excited - 18%

• Expressing a desire for sex - 17%

• Actually having sex with the men - 16%

One survey subject even described his experience as “One night in a bar a woman walked past me and looked at me. The second time she walked past she came straight to me, said hello, started talking to me and I was very surprised when she grabbed hold of my hands and gave me a kiss on the lips”. Interesting isn't it?

So is it true that a person's attractiveness is enhanced by wearing pheromone oil or cologne? Well, anecdoctal evidence claimed by users of pheromone products reported that people generally pay more attention to them and are friendlier in social situations. It also seems that human pheromones affect people’s general impressions and assessments.

In another study, subjects wearing surgical masks were shown photographs of buildings, trees, animals, men and women. Their task was to assess each according to impressions of friendly or unfriendly, passive or aggressive, attractive or unattractive. The intention of the test, the subjects were told, was to examine how stress related to wearing a surgical mask affected decision making. They were tested twice, with a two week interval between each test.

For one of the tests, a small amount of pheromone were sprayed on the mask without the test subjects knowing it. With the added pheromone there was no noticeable difference in the study group’s impressions of trees and buildings. Animals were considered slightly more aggressive. Most amazing finding was the difference in assessments of people. Both men and women were considered to be more friendly, sensitive, intelligent, attractive, confident and good.

Now, more than ever, people in all walks of life are using pheromone products not just for sexual attraction, but also to give themselves a competitive edge over their peers. People in the sales industry are wearing them to boost their sales and job applicants are using them to create a favourable impression on their interviewers.

The problem is that human beings are producing too little of this amazing chemicals naturally to have any significant impact on their social life. At the same time, we tend to wash away our natural pheromones when we take a shower or musk the pheromone when we splash on perfume, cologne or aftershave. This is the reason why there are now so many pheromone products in the market ranging from pheromone oil, sprays and perfumes amongst others.

Personally, I think what works best is that to boost the natural production of your own pheromone naturally instead of relying on the sprays, colognes and perfumes. This is because when you produce enough of your own pheromone to be attractive, you will always be. This is unlike those who wear artificial sprays and colognes because once you forget to wear them, or when the effect wears off, you are back to square one, not to say that there are many scam pheromone products.
